Hurling

Hurling has gained huge local support in recent years and through the school’s sporting association with St. Maurs GAA club St. Joseph’s has built up a fabulous reputation for producing players of great technical ability. The clash of the ash will be again heard in the 2010/2011 season as students prepare to battle for each other at junior inter-school level. Legend has it that the students of St. Joseph’s hurl from wood that has been crafted in Woodwork class.

St. Joseph’s fielded a strong U-16 boys team in the league. Regular training to improve skills was supervised by Mr. Cashin who has been a great addition to the GAA staff in the school. The boys qualified from their section of the league but were unfortunately beaten in their quarter-final.
