Many thanks to Luke, Jordan and Nicholas for taking some time out of their Christmas break to showcase their BT Young Scientist project on Ireland AM today. This project is one of an astounding seven successful entries to the prestigious competition this year from our school. The project that was featured on television was a motion controlled bicycle indicator system that lets the user indicate simply by moving their head. The detachable indicator lights work using Micro:bit embedded systems over Bluetooth and do not therefore require any wires. This means that they can be attached to any bag or high viz vest via hook-and-loop (eg. Velcro). In case of a sudden stop or crash, the three lights flash red to warn motorists of a hazard. A special thanks to Mr. Dunne for organising the entries this year and to all the parents that give so much support to the development of science and coding in our school.
