On Tuesday, 6th January 2026, the students travelled to Airfield Estate in Dundrum, Co. Dublin to take part in interviews with industry professionals as part of the next step in this exciting national competition. The results are out !
We are thrilled to congratulate them on making it through to the Final. We look forward to cheering you on as you continue your journey in the Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition. We know you will represent our school with enthusiasm.
The Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition is run nationally by Certified Irish Angus in partnership with key agri-industry organisations including ABP and Kepak. It aims to give Transition Year students a practical and inspiring experience that complements their classroom learning and promotes awareness of sustainable agriculture and the Irish agri-food sector.
This multi-stage competition challenges student teams to:
-
Produce a short video entry about themselves, their topic of interest, and their ideas.
-
Attend interviews with industry judges, as our students successfully did in January.
-
Present their projects at events such as Croke Park to expert panels.
-
Potentially rear five Irish Angus calves over approximately 18 months, conducting research and learning about animal care, beef production, sustainable practices and marketing.
Finalists work with mentors, gain hands-on experience and build skills such as public speaking, research, teamwork, and agricultural knowledge — all of which will be valuable no matter what future path they choose.
