Our 6th Year Leaving Certificate Applied students were recently visited by representatives from the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, who delivered an engaging and insightful talk about the incredible work their organisation does to support people who are blind or vision impaired, as well as families of children with autism.
During the session, students learned about the training and partnership process between guide dogs and their handlers, and heard inspiring real-life stories that highlighted the independence and confidence these dogs help bring to their owners.
The visitors also discussed the volunteer opportunities and community support that make their work possible. This talk provided students with a deeper appreciation of the positive impact of service animals and the importance of empathy, inclusion, and social responsibility in our communities.
