As part of their Wednesday Community module, our Transition Year students spent time in Kenure Woods helping to collect and compost leaf litter.

Inspired by the dedicated Rush Tidy Towns volunteers — who do fantastic work maintaining and protecting this beautiful woodland — the students learned about the importance of caring for local biodiversity.

By composting leaf litter instead of removing it, they helped return vital nutrients to the soil, supporting healthy tree growth, insects, and other wildlife.
It was a rewarding, hands-on experience that deepened their understanding of community action and environmental stewardship.
