Last week, our school celebrated Wellbeing Week from Tuesday, May 6th to Friday, May 9th — a meaningful initiative focused on promoting mental health, connection, and positivity among our students and staff. The week featured a packed schedule of activities designed to encourage mindfulness, physical activity, creativity, and community spirit across all year groups.
A Week of Events and Empowerment
Kicking off on Tuesday, May 6th, students from the 2nd year participated in a vibrant in-class dance session, setting the tone for a week full of energy and engagement.
Transition Year students embarked on a GAISCE walk through Phoenix Park, while other year groups created friendship bracelets and attended a mindfulness class (3A in Room 20).

A highlight of the day was an inspiring talk by Linda Djougang, Irish rugby international , speaking to our 5th years about resilience and empowerment.

On Wednesday, May 7th, students took part in the Schools Go Orange , Cycle Against Suicide and Stand Up Awareness Day Activities, including a full-day Spinathon.

Meanwhile, mindfulness sessions continued with 3C in Room 20, and creative expressions flourished during our Positivitea event, which featured music, Instagram poster making, and a bake sale. Friendship bracelet workshops helped foster connections between students. Second Years got to enjoy the sunshine as they coloured.

Water, Wellness, and Mindfulness
Thursday, May 8th focused on empathy and awareness with the Walk for Water campaign, encouraging students to reflect on global water challenges. Mindfulness sessions were held for class 3D in Room 4, and the creative well-being spaces remained open with music, face painting, and appreciation activities during breaks.
The week concluded on Friday, May 9th with a beautiful and moving Darkness Into Light walk at 7:30 a.m. on the beach, the weather could not have been better hopefully making the early start worth it .

Later in the day, 6th-year students enjoyed board games during class, promoting screen-free relaxation and social interaction. Wellbeing week ended with a special treat courtesy of our Parent's Association. Ice-cream vans pulled in on the Basketball court and had cones for everyone.
Building a Culture of Wellbeing
This special week aimed to equip students with tools to support their mental and emotional wellbeing, while also creating opportunities to build friendships, celebrate individuality, and foster a positive school environment.
We extend our sincere thanks to all teachers, staff, guest speakers, and student leaders who made Wellbeing Week a great success. Most importantly, we thank our students for embracing the spirit of the week.
