Transition Year

Transition Year

Welcome

Hello and welcome to the St Joseph’s Rush Transition Year (TY). TY is an optional year that takes place after 3rd Year, once students have completed their Junior Cycle exams, and before they enter the Leaving Certificate programme in 5th Year. The vast majority of students opt for TY.

The TY curriculum in Rush is built around the needs and interests of our students . It capitalises on the talents and expertise of our teaching staff and seeks to develop links with our local community, enabling students to strengthen their sense of connection with where they live. The focus is on building skills that will be of benefit to our students in their day-to-day lives and better prepare them for their educational journey going forward. TY in Rush targets and aims to improve the skills of communication, creativity, managing myself and working with others. I hope you find this page useful and informative and that it will give you a taste of what Transition Year in Rush is all about. You will find information on the TY curriculum, links we have developed with partners and friends in our community, articles written by students on the different events they’ve been involved in, our photo gallery and TY student blog for 2019-2020.
