St Joseph's Run Dublin to Uganda Challenge for Aidlink
25-May-20
Run Dublin to Uganda

We only went and smashed it!!

Over the weekend, we set ourselves a task to raise money for Aidlink Ireland and to cover a distance of 250km collectively.
What a way to end the academic year. Not only did we reach out 250km target we absolutely blew it out of the water!

Collectively the distance we covered was 1447.83 km

A massive thank you to everyone who got involved by walking, running, cycling and donating to the cause. It is a cause that is so close to our hearts here in St Joseph's. Community is key to the work, message and organisation that is Aidlink Ireland, something that is at the heart of all we do here in St Joseph's Rush.

The following video is such a testament to the community of our school: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BmKLCi7880&t=2s

The original details of the fundraiser and our objectives can be found below the video.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! laughing

The Uganda Team of 2019 are organising a wellbeing stroll/walk/ run for Aidlink this weekend
to support their Dublin to Uganda fundraiser happening today.
Please Support! All Details Below...

Uganda Team 2019.jpg

The team have set 2 targets between us we are hoping to:

  1. Cover 250kmDistance
  2. Raise €1000 for Aidlink

If you are in anyway able to help us out with the above targets we'd greatly appreciate it!

Can you offer up the distance of your weekend walk/run for the cause?
cool
Most of us are getting out for a stroll, walk or run during the day.
If you could offer up the distance of one walk/run over the weekend that would help us meet and even surpass our 250km target!

Keep a record of any distance you cover (from 200m to 10km) and share it to your form class schoology page so your form teacher can pass it onto the Uganda team. If you know any of the Uganda team members from 2019 share the distance with them directly!

Have you €5 to spare?
If you have a few bob you could throw towards the cause - all donations of any amount we would be delighted with.
The donation page is here: https://donorbox.org/aidlinkcovid19?default_interval=o

If you are in a position to donate please add SJR to your donation name.
This is the only way we will know if the €1000 target was reached by St Joseph's students, staff & friends - obviously rainsing funds for Aidlink is the most important thing but it would be rewarding to know if we've managed to hit the target we've set.

Get Creative!

If you want to go all out for the cause please:

  • Share the banner image on your socials (twitter, instagram & facebook)
  • Take some pictures of you out on your walk
  • Wear Blue/Green
  • Tag St Joseph's & Aidlink in any postings you make!
  • Nominate your friends & family to get involved or drag them along with you!

What is Aidlink Doing?

From providing hand-washing facilities, to delivering life-saving protective equipment, Aidlink partners are on the ground, working to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect the most vulnerable.

In Kenya and Uganda, we’re waging a war on misinformation, bringing trustworthy guidance on COVID-19 to families. Our partners are distributing personal protective equipment, soap and sanitary products to vulnerable communities.

We’re delivering food to out-of-school children as lockdowns have cut livelihoods and access to markets, and installing hand washing stations as the first line of defence for families.

We’re doing all we can to protect families in some of the world’s most deprived areas from the effects of COVID-19. But the situation is worsening, and we need to reach more people. Together we can help families get through this. Please donate today. - Anne Cleary CEO Aidlink Ireland

We hope you can get involved with us over the weekend and support Aidlink in their continued work with the most vulnerable.
